Possaluma County - The Second Season!
"Welcome to Silver Falls City!"
Possaluma County, near the center of the state, was incorporated in
early 2003, based on a remark made by Merrily Jackson in a CSz
workshop.
Possaluma County is a completely improvised
show that changes and progresses each time we see it. Unlike any show
at the ComedySportz Arena, the players portray the same character
throughout each show; some players maintain characters for a number of
shows, and many folks are playing characters they've been developing
for over two years. Each night, every player must play only one
character, with one exception - one guy gets to play a whole bunch of
little parts.
Each Possaluma County show unfolds following an interview process:
Between 6 and 12 players bring their characters to the story on any
given night, and Director Patrick Short gives the audience a chance to
catch up with each character at the beginning of the show. We then leap
right into the action, and we never know what is going to happen before
it happens. Sometimes we don't know what happened even after it
happened. Possaluma County is a loving look at some VERY idiosyncratic
characters, and a VERY funny show.
We're now in our "Second Season". The focus of the show has
moved from Possaluma City to Silver Falls City, a few miles southwest.
For information on characters from the first years of the show, please visit our Possaluma City page.
Some of the new characters (and new ones are being created each time we have a show):
- Boonie Helgin* (Betse Green) has moved to Silver Falls City to clean for
Sassafras Ockerman because the nail shop burned down. A Romanian
immigrant and sexpot.
-
Tommy Wilson* (Cat Beckett) has run away to Silver Falls City and is staying in the corner of a room with Boonie.
- Sassafras Ockerman (Angela Michtom) is a free spirit and artist who works
in oils and pastels and is "trying clay". Addicted to Sweetarts.
- M. T. Crawford (Curt Frye) owns the candy store he inherited from his
dad in '98. May be supplying more than candy. Something going on here.
- Eddie Washington (Bill Cernansky) owns Washington Tours, including two
helicopters. A heavy user of Sweetarts. Wife died in a crash in Blood
Canyon. May be something more to it.
- Julie Smith (Jenny Criglar) likes to be known as Raquelle. Hasn't lived
enough yet. Needs the highs and lows. 23 years old. Babysits the
Flanders kids, who are "missing".
- Chad Robuck (Nate Parkes) a 20 year old with a backpack - wants to be
known as "Code". Digging holes searching for alien gold from the Mangi,
who are not Japanese, even though it sounds like it.
-
Other characters (Patrick Short): a tourist, the UPS driver, John Flanders
* These characters also appeared in the Possaluma County - The First Years.
Possaluma County shows typically run about 40 minutes.
