ComedySportz and the Community

As an organization, ComedySportz brings more than just laughter to our audiences. We're also committed to giving back to our community in many ways: By collecting food for Oregon Food Bank at every show, by volunteering as a team and as individuals, by doing fundraisers and charity shows, and by donating 15% of our pre-tax profits to charities each year.

Oregon Food Bank

Oregon Food BankComedySportz-Portland has collected canned food at every home show since February, 1994 – adding up to many thousands of pounds each year – and donated funds to Oregon Food Bank.

In 2002, ComedySportz' Ruth Jenkins and Patrick Short accepted the Stone Soup Award from Oregon Food Bank. The award is given each year to organizations and individuals who are especially committed to reducing hunger and aiding low-income people.

ComedySportz continues to support OFB in 2010. We'll be at the food bank helping out at least four times this year, and we've even written and produced a play about hunger and what can be done about it. See our show, laugh a lot, help some folks put food on the table! Thank you, CSz fans!

15% to Charity

ComedySportz-Portland gives 15% of its pre-tax profits to charities each year. Players nominate charitable organizations and then vote to allocate a certain portion of ComedySportz-Portland's charitable giving for the year. In the last few years, those organizations included:

Seats for Families

For every ComedySportz 4 Kidz show, we donate a number of seats to families who might not be able to afford live theatre. These donations are made through organizations that work with families in need.  Contact us if you have an organization that can assist us in getting tickets into the right hands.

Schools and Fundraisers

Gift Cards for silent auctions:  please see our donations page.

ComedySportz has hosted and performed special shows for school foundations and other fund raisers, helping raise thousands of dollars for educational programs. We help in a variety of ways!

One caveat, before you contact us:  ComedySportz does not appear for free. Our professional players are paid for every show they perform and every workshop they teach. We reduce our prices for many not-for-profit organizations, and we're pleased to assist in many other ways, but we don't do "free" shows.
