Portland Rocks the 2004 World Championships

In another outstanding showing on the international comedy circuit, Portland has returned from a highly-successful week of shows and workshops at the 2004 ComedySportz World Championships in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The World Championships featured 20 ComedySportz teams from the USA, England and Ireland, plus exhibition matches, workshops and the ever-popular exchange of new games (many of which will be seen in Portland in the coming months).

Portland's team, led be General Manager Patrick Short and President Ruth Jenkins, featured Amy Gray, Betse Green, Bill Cernanky, Nate Parkes, Jennette Zarko, Jenny Criglar and Luke Dempsey. Portland played Washington, D.C. in its head-to-head matchup, and ComedySportz's own longform musical improv group The Screaming Mee-Mees performed to acclaim with guest actors from ComedySportz L.A.

Although nominally a tournament, the World Championships is a great learning experience and a chance to play and practice with over 100 ComedySportz players from around the globe. After an exhausting week of shows, workshops, meetings, parties and improv jams, the team returned to Portland a bit ragged but energized by all they had experienced.

Look for exciting new games, show intros and a few surprises in the coming months from your own Portland team!
